You are unique.
Your life matters.
Your voice matters.
You have a purpose.
You bring something different to the table.
You have something others don’t: your creativity, your thoughts, your ideas.
You are a light wherever you go.
You were created by the Maker of the Heavens.
You are valuable.
You are not weak.
You are strong.
You are brave.
You are important in this world. Hang in there.
You are not alone.
You are going to do great things – but also small, meaningful things that matter too.
You move those around you in ways that others can’t.
You have a special way with words.
Your smile makes others smile.
You have a special gift. No one else has that but you.
You have an inner fire that can’t be watered down.
You will meet your goals.
You will accomplish your dreams.
You will be able to prove them wrong.
You have hidden perseverance.
You will continue to stand. Fall. And stand again.
You have a loving heart.
You have a Heavenly Father who loves you.
You are appreciated.
You have a seat in this life.
You are precious.
You are needed.
You are thought of.
You are wanted.
You are loved.
So, so loved.
Press on. Because —
Sometimes loving people can be hard. Loving people who are hard to love is hard. But we can’t deny this one thing: as part of the human race, the need to feel loved and accepted is an innate part of us. In this day and age, it is especially heartbreaking to witness upfront the undeniable brokenness that has plagued our society for generations. As an Asian American, I recognize that I have a privilege. This is not to say I am ignoring the racial discrimination my loved ones and members of my culture have experienced time to time, rather I am acknowledging the fact that when I am walking down the street, the police does not think of me as a dangerous criminal. I recognize I have areas that I need to work on. To love better, harder, and with intention.
This post is dedicated to those who need to hear the truth right now.
It’s for You.
I will not be publishing another blog post for an indefinite amount of time as I take this time to reflect, mute myself and listen to others and their stories. I’d like to encourage you to continue to move not backward, but forward. For those who want to get involved with the #BlackLivesMatter movement, WordPress has an informational blog on the many different resources we can utilize. Thank you for following GraceSkylar and I’ll see you all soon —
